Season's opening defeat for TTF
In the latest table tennis match, TTF faced a challenging game against Borussia Dortmund, with the absence of their top player, Shunsuke Togami, due to an unexpected visa issue. The game took place in the Dr. Hans Liebherr Sports Hall, with 310 spectators witnessing the intense competition.
Despite the odds, TTF's coach Bogdan Pugna showed faith in his team, trusting the trio of Iulian Chirita, Tiago Abiodun, and Andreas Levenko. The newcomers, Chirita and Levenko, made their debut in the TTF jersey in this very game.
The match began with a perfect start for TTF, as Iulian Chirita won the first match against Cedric Nuytinck 3:2. However, the momentum shifted as Abiodun lost his match against Anders Lind 0:3, followed by Levenko's defeat against double world champion Kristian Karlsson 0:3.
In an attempt to force a decisive double, Chirita had to win against Anders Lind, but unfortunately, he too lost 0:3, confirming Lind's status as a world-class player. Despite this, Chirita secured his first individual win in the TTF jersey.
TTF president Kristijan Pejinovic defended the team, stating that the defeat was not a setback and that the new additions are still finding their place. The coach also acknowledged that Dortmund was better and that the team is still young and needs time to adjust to the league.
The coaching duo for Borussia Dortmund was Qi Wenchen and Evgeny Fadeev, and the team arrived in full strength for the game. The final score was TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen - Borussia Dortmund 1:3.
Looking ahead, TTF's next home match is on September 14th against Grenzau. Let's hope for a stronger performance from the team as they continue to find their footing in the league.
