New recruits commence custom training at Erfurt Central Customs Office, with 25 individuals embarking on their new professional journey.
On September 1, 2025, around 1,700 young individuals embarked on their careers with the German Customs Service, marking the start of their training or dual bachelor's degree program. This information was announced by the Main Customs Office Erfurt, as reported by news aktuell.
At the Main Customs Office Erfurt, 25 customs officers-to-be received their appointment certificates in a ceremony led by Dana Schleußinger, the head of the office. Eleven women and fourteen men were welcomed at the event.
Theoretical training for those in the higher service will take place at the Federal Higher Education Institution in Münster, while those in the middle service will attend the Customs School in Erfurt.
For the middle service, 19 of the newly appointed officers will begin a two-year training program for future senior customs secretaries. These officers will be deployed at customs offices, with some also working at the Customs Investigation Office in Dresden.
Six of the newly appointed officers will start a three-year dual bachelor's degree program in the higher service. The theoretical training for this program will be conducted at the Federal Higher Education Institution in Münster.
Interested candidates can apply for training or a degree program with the German Customs Service until October 15, 2025. For the year 2026, applications are still being accepted until the same date, with the next training and study start date scheduled for September 1, 2026. The Customs Service aims to recruit all suitable trainees.
